It is also about a mile from one of the largest malls in the
area. Concord Mills is the name of the mall. There must be 300
stores there. We did not see even half of them.
We
did take a tour of the Lowe's Speedway. We had never done this
either. Going around the race track at 90 mph on a damp track,
in a 12 passenger van, with a lady driver was not exactly what I
planned. It has a 26 degree bank angle and you sit way leaned
over at the top next to the wall. It was an experience. Lowe's
paid $35 million dollars for a 10 year contract for their name
to be used. It was formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway. There are
10 families living in condos there. Just think, they can watch
all the races from the comfort of their own couch. When the
condos were built they sold for $90,000. Today one is for sale
at $525,000. They have I think 1500 square feet.
Richard Petty has a company there that you can drive a race car
around the track and/ or be driven by one of his drivers.
